About the Lorem Ipsum Generator
Choose how many paragraphs, sentences or words you need, from 1 to 100, press Generate and copy the result. Each sentence is 8 to 19 words picked at random from the vocabulary of the classic "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" passage, with a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end. A paragraph holds 3 to 6 of those sentences. Because the words are drawn at random, every click gives a different text.
Placeholder text lets you judge a layout without anyone getting distracted by the words: how a card looks with two lines of copy, whether a blog layout copes with long paragraphs, or where a brochure column breaks. Lorem Ipsum has word lengths and spacing similar to real text, but nobody stops to read it. The standard passage is scrambled Latin taken from Cicero's "De finibus bonorum et malorum", with words cut and altered so that it no longer makes sense.
For a product grid with short descriptions, choose Sentences, enter 2 and paste the result into each card. For a full article page, choose 5 paragraphs. To see the text in different typefaces, paste it into Font Preview; to try it inside your own HTML and CSS, use the Live Code Editor.

Set the count
Enter a number from 1 to 100 in the Count box.

Pick Paragraphs, Sentences or Words from the Type menu.

Decide on the opening
Leave "Start with "Lorem ipsum..."" ticked for the familiar opening, or untick it for completely random text.

Press Generate, check the word count shown above the text, then press Copy. Press Generate again for a different version.
What it can do

Classic opening
With the option on, paragraphs and sentences begin with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit." and word lists begin with "Lorem ipsum".
Word count of the result
The number of words generated is shown above the output, handy when a design calls for a set length.
Plain text that pastes cleanly
Paragraphs are separated by a blank line, so the text pastes into design tools, documents and code editors without stray formatting.
Limitations
- Output is plain text only; paragraphs are not wrapped in HTML
<p>tags. - Words are random picks, so the result is not the exact standard Lorem Ipsum passage and repeats some words more often than real Latin would.
- Words mode gives lowercase words with no punctuation.
- The maximum is 100 paragraphs, sentences or words per click.
- The vocabulary is Latin-style only, so it won't show how a design handles accented letters or non-Latin scripts such as Devanagari.

The placeholder text is generated by JavaScript in your browser; nothing is sent to FlexyPdf's servers.
Frequently asked questions
What does Lorem Ipsum actually mean?
Nothing coherent. It is based on a passage from Cicero's "De finibus bonorum et malorum" (45 BC), but words have been cut, merged and altered, so it looks like Latin without saying anything. That is the point: reviewers notice the layout rather than the message.
Will I get the same text every time?
No. Sentences are built from randomly chosen words, so each press of Generate gives new text. Only the optional opening sentence, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.", stays the same.
How long is one paragraph?
A paragraph has 3 to 6 sentences of 8 to 19 words each, so anywhere from 24 to 114 words and about 60 on average. With the classic opening switched on, the first paragraph is a few words longer because that sentence is added in front.
Can I get the text as HTML paragraphs?
Not directly. The output is plain text with a blank line between paragraphs, so wrap each paragraph in <p> and </p> yourself after pasting it into your code.
Is it fine to leave Lorem Ipsum on a live website?
It is meant for drafts and mock-ups. Replace it before a page goes live: visitors see placeholder text as unfinished, and it gives search engines nothing useful to index.
